Nordic Ecolabelling is revising the criteria for panels and mouldings for interior use and we hereby invite you to comment on our proposal no later than August 31st, 2023.
This is the second consultation period for Panels and mouldings for interior use, where comments from the first period (13.10.2022 – 09.12.2022) has been assessed and included in the preparation of the new proposal for criteria document.
The most important changes are:
- The product definition: The criteria only cover panels and mouldings for interior use. The criteria now also include cross-laminated wood (CLT), glulam, wood plastic composite (WPC), textiles and wet room panels.
- Acoustic boards must have a minimum sound absorption class of A or B.
- New raw material requirements for textiles, plastics, WPC and aluminium.
- Gypsum and mineral wool: Tightened requirements for the proportion of renewable material.
- Energy: New and stricter requirements for energy consumption in the production of panels as well as the production of raw materials such as cement and mineral wool.
- The chemical requirements have been tightened in several ways. For example, there is a ban on using chemicals that are classified as environmentally harmful. And that the requirement for constituent substances now also includes CMR category 2 substances.
- Emission of formaldehyde: The requirement has been tightened.
- Innovation: New innovation requirements have been introduced to promote environmental measures.
