Nordic Ecolabelling are revising the criteria for cleaning services and you are welcome to comment on the proposal by August 30th.
The consultation proposal is sent to a wide range of consultative bodies and the input will be used actively in the further work with the requirements.
Nordic Ecolabelling have done a “partial revision” which means that only parts of the criteria is being revised. The requirement level from generation 3 is kept in 9 of the requirements in the suggested generation 4. Some requirements are updated and made more clear, but the requirement levels are the same.
The most important changes compared to generation 3 are:
- New template value for m2 per full time employee (FTE), used for the calculation of total square metres cleaned.
- Stricter requirements for total consumption of cleaning products and consumption of ecolabelled cleaning products.
- New requirements for window cleaning regarding treated water.
- Floor care products are no longer a part of the ecolabelled service, it is considered special cleaning.
- Requirements for “non-ecolabelled products” is updated and tightened.
- A new routine requirement for the reduction of plastic bags.
- Point score requirement for purchase of ecolabelled product and services is updated and changed.
- All new purchase/leasing of vehicles shall be electrical or powered by biogas/natural gas and maximum consumption of fuel for transport is stricter.
The proposed criteria have been prepared by Nordic Ecolabelling under the leadership of the Nordic product manager Vivian Grønhaug Ottemo.
